This publication accompanied an exhibition of experimental prints that were created at The Fabric Workshop in Philadelphia, PA. A group of artists were invited to use its facilities for a two-week period in order to produce prints on fabric, and in many cases transform that fabric into a work of art. This exhibition featured many of these prints, as well as a selection of objects typical of each artist's work. The catalogue includes an introduction by gallery director Nancy Einreinhofer, an essay titled "The Fabric Workshop - Experimental Prints" by curator Barbara Toll, an essay titled "The Fabric Workshop 1977-1978" by Marion Boulton Stroud, Director of The Fabric Workshop, and an exhibition checklist. Exhibiting artists included Gary Bower, Scott Burton, Cynthia Carlson, Richard DeVore, Robert Kushner, Margo Margolis, Kim MacConnel, Italo Scanga, Judith Shea, Marjorie Strider, Jeff Way, and Karl Wirsum. |
